Andreas Kümmert (DE)

Andreas Kümmert is THE blues-rock singer from Germany.

His distinctive voice and talent for deeply moving songs are timeless.

For as long as Andreas Kümmert can remember, music has been his language. In 2013, he had his breakthrough: with his original composition “Simple Man”, Kümmert won the TV show “The Voice of Germany”. Since then, he has been celebrated for his unique blues and soul voice — and unlike most participants of such talent shows, he has continued to enjoy lasting success.

In 2023, it marks the tenth anniversary of his victory – a perfect reason to return to the stages of the country with a brand-new album. Because: Kümmert made full use of the past two pandemic years, working intensively on his new record with his two long-time collaborators Stefan Kahne and Michael Germer. “I always thought, life has to go on,” he says.

He stayed strong – and it paid off. His new album, aptly titled “Working Class Hero”, will be released on April 14, 2023 (Soulfood Music) and showcases every facet of this exceptional artist – from expressive rock’n’roll tracks to stirring ballads.

A special highlight of the album is a newly recorded version of his The Voice hit “Rocket Man”. Originally by Elton John, Kümmert made the song entirely his own back then. The track still earns him his nickname today: “Rocket Man”.

A description of the Andreas Kümmert phenomenon: a grounded, humble character who erupts like lightning on stage. “That song is simply a part of my story,” Kümmert says. “I felt like it deserved to finally be on an album.”

With the first single “Leave the Radio on” already released, and the follow-up “Miracles” out on February 24, 2023, fans can already get into the mood for the upcoming album release shows.

Live, audiences can expect a true firework display of joy and musical craftsmanship. You can look forward to a high-energy show, featuring a cross-section of Kümmert’s full song repertoire — including, of course, the goosebump moments he’s known for.

“With the 13 tracks on this album, the artist from Lower Franconia raises the bar for what genre musicians in this country can achieve — effortlessly one or two levels higher.”
